ARTwork.

Although I have always created drawings, paintings and photographs and mounted successful art exhibitions in both Europe and Australia and I am represented in private and public collections. Until recently this has been secondary to my work in the theatre where I have primarily designed sets costumes and lighting for opera, ballet and dance. I have also trained and worked as a yoga therapist and worked for several years as a yoga practitioner, training others at The Yoga Studio which I opened in Newry. Although the studio is now closed, I still offer classes online and privately by appointment. Recently with the aid of a DfE grant I was appointed as a part time director of the ‘not for profit’ Light Theatre Company.

I returned to personal arts practice in 2018 with the assistance of an Individual Artist Award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and I was invited as an artist in residence at Creative Spark in Dundalk, Co. Louth where the following year, I created a new body of work, some of which explored the potential of AR using the Artive app. The work created during the residency at Creative Spark was shown in a solo exhibition at Down Arts Centre, Dundalk in April and May 2019 under the title Falling or Flying. Some of the work from this series has also been shown in the Beneath the Surface exhibition at An Tain in Dundalk and four of the works were in an exhibition in Athens in September 2020 and work is due to be shown in a virtual exhibition at the end of May. I was also an Artist in Residence at the Belfast Print Workshop, where I started to investigate various forms of lithographic printing on stone and metal plates. I am still a member of both Creative Spark and the Belfast Print Workshop

During the pandemic I made a number of short films and more recently created work for Light Theatre Company which has mainly centred on celebrating James Joyce’s novel Ulysses for Bloomsday and the centerary of the publication of the novel.
