I had been the artist in residence at Creative Spark in Dundalk when I started this series. It came out of an experiment using graphite to make mono prints. The abstract images that resulted seemed to be about disallusion and destruction and I started to think about how these forces impact on societies.

Vicky wanted to know why is the American eagle is flying away? Is it devastated by what is happening and what does it symbolise?

I showed this piece in the An Tain ‘Beneath the Surface’ exhibition in Dundalk during October 2019 and a print was bought for the collection by Louth County Council

Kieran Swail is a tutor at the Incubation & Innovation Centre at Southern Regional College in Newry. He has been very supportive of my work. He came with Vicky Blades to see the work and we discussed how far these images refer to 9/11 and the twin towers or as a metaphor for general destruction.
